(IsraelNN.com) A deadly antibiotic-resistance strain of bacterium has infected hundreds and killed dozens of patients in hospitals across Israel being treated for other illnesses.

The story first broke Tuesday night on the Channel 1 Mabat TV program. The bacterium is not new to Israeli hospitals, although this latest strain, Klebsiella pneumoniae, appeared in recent months. The bacterium attacks hospital patients being treated for other illnesses, and has infected mostly those who have been hospitalized for over 25 days.

Normally found in the mouth, skin and intestines, Klebsiella pneumoniae is a member of the Enterobacteriaceae family. The germ often causes hospital-acquired urinary tract and burn wound infections, but is also known to cause bacterial pneumonia. Its identification is complicated and can involve a large number of tests.

I wonder if any patient has been treated with cloves/clove-oil,garlic,grapefruit seed extract,echinacea of good quality etc.,or various essential oils as described below.
Especially these essential oils may be of great help here [I can't write this with real "authority" in these cases of resistant klebsiella , but i am quite confident about this, according to my experience]
Over the years I have treated patients with recurrent difficult pneumonia's [sometimes after various hospitalizations with a mixture of essential oils,which i will not describe here in extenso ,because the wrong preparation can be dangerous.

The French pharmacy in gilo and Oplatka do make up this prescription for me. they are known as "essential oils" [and mention then that the prescription is from me]
If you know of anybody at the moment with a serious condition of this sort, you may contact me and G-d willing i may suggest you what to try, if the hospital agrees.
I suggest that you transfer this article to misrad ha-briut [the Ministry of Health].
May be somebody is interested to look into it.

Essential oil of clove, dispersed (0.4% v/v) in a concentrated sugar solution, had a marked germicidal effect against various bacteria and Candida albicans. Staphylococcus aureus (five strains), Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Clostridium perfringens, and Escherichia coli inoculated at a level of 10(7) cfu/ml, and C. albicans (inoculum 4.0 x 10(5) cfu/ml) were killed (greater than 99.999%) after 2-7 min in a laboratory broth supplemented with 63% (v/w) of sugar, and containing 0.4% (v/w) of essential oil of clove. Added organic matter ( i.e. human or bovine serum) did not impair its antimicrobial activity. Sugar was not necessary for the antimicrobial activity of clove oil, but the concentrated sugar solution provided a good vehicle for obtaining an oil dispersion that is relatively stable for certain practical applications.

The essential oil of Achillea clavennae was investigated for its antibacterial activity against some respiratory tract pathogens. Maximum activity was observed against Klebsiella pneumoniae and penicillin-susceptible and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. The oil also exhibited strong activity against Gram (-) Haemophilus influenzae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Gram (+) Streptococcus pyogenes was the most resistant to the oil.

if you have family who may benefit from this ,try then to by this oil from a good company like Tisserand [ you should ask for etheric oil [essential oil] from piper nigrum] and instruct the persons who are taking care.
try to send this e-mail to old age homes.
It seems to me that this simple method can make life a bit easier.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The smell of black pepper oil appears to ease swallowing difficulties in older people, researchers report.

Inhaling black pepper oil may thereby reduce the risk of aspiration pneumonia, which can be a major consequence of swallowing dysfunction.

Because black pepper oil is a strong appetite stimulus, Dr. Takae Ebihara, a geriatrician at the Tohoku University School of Medicine in Sendai, Japan, and colleagues theorized that inhaling it would ameliorate impairment of the swallowing reflex by stimulating olfactory centers in the brain.

The team conducted a study with residents of nursing homes who were physically handicapped, primarily due to cerebrovascular disorders. As noted in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, the average age of the subjects was roughly 85 years.

The investigators assigned 35 patients each to inhale black pepper oil, lavender oil, and distilled water. Caregivers were instructed to have the participants smell the products, deposited on paper sticks held to the nostrils, for 1 minute immediately before each meal for 30 days.

To test the effect, swallowing was triggered by squirting distilled water through a tube into the back of the throat, and the latency time between the squirt and the swallow was measured.

After the first exposure to black pepper oil, average latency of the swallowing reflex was reduced from 17.6 seconds to 6.4 seconds, falling still further to 4.4 seconds by the end of the trial.

In the lavender oil group and the water group, latency remained essentially the same.

The ten participants with a history of aspiration pneumonia underwent brain scans before and after the study. The researchers saw that cerebral blood flow increased significantly in the area of the brain involved in central processing of initiation, motivation, and goal-directed behavior.

They conclude that "nasal inhalation of volatile black pepper oil might be useful for patients with nasofeeding tubes" and others at high risk for aspiration pneumonia.

SUMMARY

Black pepper oil is extracted from dried black peppercorns. As a pesticide active ingredient it is used for repelling mammalian pests such as dogs, cats, ground hogs, and squirrels. The first repellent end product containing this active ingredient is used in residential, non-food areas, such as attics, garages, and lawns. Oil of black pepper is commonly used in food, healing oils, and aromatherapy. Consequently, no adverse effects to humans or the environment are expected from the tiny amounts of this oil that will be used in pesticide products.
